FIRST IMPRESSION OUT OF THE BOX
DeucesJack: What’s up everyone? DeucesJack at vapinginsider.com. Today, I have the Augvape Templar RDA. 24mm RDA, low profile, 2 top caps, very interesting deck.
Let’s dive down. Let me go over it with you. We’ll build it, we’ll wick it, we’ll juice it up. We’re going to come back on top, we’re going to vape on it, cons, pros, out of here. See you down low.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX
- 1 Templar RDA
- 1 Frosted Top Cap
- 1 BF Squonk-Ready Pin
- 1 510 Drip Tip Adapter
- Spare Parts
Alright everyone, welcome to the up close portion of this video. Today, we’re going to be going over the Augvape Templar RDA. It says: Velocity clamp system. Got some official Augvape branding over here. Here is your authenticity code. You can see I have the black one. A little bit of Augvape branding over here. I love these tubes. I think they’re so much better than the boxes. I just dig them. I really do.
Let’s open it up. Here is the actual RDA. We’re going to put that to the side for a second. In the spare parts bag, we have a single coil block, 510 drip tip adapter, spare o-rings and a squonking pin. Here is the second top cap that you get. Some Templar branding, you can see those air slots are kind of slanted and drilled downward. Kind of have like a chuff style cap here I guess, I don’t know. I’ll be honest. I’ve used it. I don’t like it so I haven’t used it a lot.
FROM TOP TO BOTTOM
Let’s go over the actual atomizer itself. There we have some Templar branding. Here is your airflow slots right here. Kind of unique. I’m kind of digging that. Little Templar branding on top. Some more airflow over here. A little bit of a stepped up design right here, not too bad. Take the drip tip out, goon style drip tip. You can see the o-ring inside right there. Nice job on that. All my other goon style drip tips have sat nice and flush in there. On the bottom, we have some gold-plating on the whole base. Gold-plated 510 connection with an insulator ring around it. Some Augvape branding over here, and here as well and a serial number. The threading is very smooth but it’s also gold-plated as well.
Alright, let’s pull the top cap off and take a look at the top cap and the barrel section. There is your airflow. The o-ring is pretty tight. You really got to juice it up but you can cut all those air holes down one at a time. A little tough to see on camera there but it can be done. Take the top cap off and you’ll see the stepped type of airflow. They did include a single block for running single coils but to be honest with you, I’m not a fan of whatever running a dual coil atomizer as a single coil. There are plenty of great dedicated single coil atomizers.
Excuse the juice, this o-ring is extremely tight and you definitely going to have to keep it juiced up in order to actually adjust the airflow.
Barrel is done very nicely. I like the cuts, I like the unique airflow and the way you can cut it down. Nice job on that. Really wish they would have put a more conical design on the top cap. Not as conical as it probably could be but that probably would have hurt the short stature of the RDA.
Let’s take a look of the deck. Deck is very unique. Here’s where that Templar name comes from. Looks like a T or maybe even the bottom of the knights templar sword. Nice job on that. They really did do a unique sort of deck here.
One titanium screw in the middle. That’s my other pet peeve with this is there is only one screw so I guess Augvape is telling us that this is really high quality and nothing is going to happen to it. When you open up the T, you get 4 terminals. It’s still two posts, two terminals per post but it looks like a Velocity style deck just done a little differently. In there, right there, when you put the squonk pin in, that is where your juice will come out and it will evenly distribute it between both sides but there’s also space around here for your juice to flow around.
Nice deep juice well. See that right there? Nice deep juice well. Everything is gold-plated. Love that one titanium screw but I wish there was another one. Barrel’s held in place by two o-rings. All the o-rings on here are definitely on the tight side so make sure you juice them up.
Let’s slap a build in this thing and see what we got here.
Shout out to Wotofo for the coils we’re going to be using. We got some quad core fused claptons, N80 3mm. Each coils ohms out at 0.26 which means with a dual build, I should come in at around 0.13. Check these coils out, they did a nice job with them. Wotofo just sent me a bunch of these and I got to say, I have been enjoying them.
First thing you want to do is you want to loosen that one screw up and you build it justy like a Velocity style deck. Put your leads in just like that and the same thing on the other side. What I like to do on this deck sometimes too is I like to tighten it down just a little bit, not all the way, just enough to hold the coils in there and then maybe make my little adjustments. So I have a little bit of friction in there. While I’m making my adjustments, not a bad thing to do. And then, you can get your screwdriver in there. Give it a final tightening.
Now the first thing you want to do on this is you want to be able to cut your leads. Make sure you go for your easy leads first. What I mean by that is go for the ones that are very accessible like this one right here. Make sure you put your finger on it, give it a snip. Same thing over here. Get it in there, give it a nice little snip. Same thing over here. Get your wire cutters in there as close as you can and do the same on this side. Now you want to take your coiling rod and worry about your coil placement right now. I like to run my coil right around there, same thing on the other side and your build should look something like that.
Let’s put it on the Coil Master 521 Plus tab, shout out to Coil Master. Let’s see what we’re ohming out at and give it a gentle pulsing. There we go. We’re glowing evenly from both sides.
Let me show you how to wick this thing up. Cotton we’re going to be using today is Wicked Wicks. Extremely similar to Native Wicks Platinum Blend. I’ve been using this for about a month now and I have to say I’m kind of impressed with this cotton. Take your one end, feed it through the coil, Pull it through just like that, take your scissor and measure it right up against that second oring right there and give it a cut. We’ll do the same thing on the other side. Give it a little twist, a little pull and we’re going to cut our cotton the same length as the other side. This one we still haven’t measured out yet. Let’s measure it out right there. Let’s measure this one out, right there.
And that’s how your built Templar should look. Now you take your cotton tool and you gently tuck everything in. Same thing on this side. Make sure you leave some space to squonk with just like that. Same thing on the other side. Gently tuck those wicks in. Don’t mash them down. Make sure you’re gentle with them and now we’re all ready to juice.
Juice I’m going to be using today is Vapes Gone Wild, strawberry milkshake. Not Vapes Wild, Vapes Gone Wild. This stuff is fantastic. If you like strawberry vapes, definitely give it a try and you want to get this coil nice and saturated. Get each wick nice and juiced up. Same thing on this side. Get a little bit in the juice well. Once you feel like you have enough juice on there, give it a quick gentle pulse, get that juice flowing, see that? Nice, right? It smells fantastic. Now we’re ready to vape.
We’re going to put this thing back together. I’m going to throw it on a mod, we’re going to vape on it, talk about it, cons pros, we’re out of here. See you back on top.
Alright everyone, we’re back on top with the Augvape Templar RDA. You just saw it for yourself guys, up close and personal. This is a nice one. I like these low profile RDAs. 4mm deep juice well. I love the deck. The deck is absolutely awesome. Easy to build on, easy to wick, it’s a home run. I wish the comp cap had a drip tip to it. I like the fact that they gave you two caps but it’s kind of got that Wasp Nano type of cap but in a bigger version. But even a Wasp Nano allows you to air the 510 drip tip. I wish they would have made that opening on the comp cap, goon style compatible, that would have been awesome. It still vapes pretty good the way it is but I like the metal top cap better. I’m not going to lie. I think the airflow on it is super smooth. It’s got a real precise adjustment to it which I really love. I think they did a great job on this RDA.
One thing I didn’t mention down low that I should have, it does have a locking barrel. You probably saw the notches downlow. I just failed to mention it. Colors that it’s available in are stainless steel black and a gorgeous blue. Look at the black though, the black looks awesome. Check it out, man. Merge it out on my Squid double barrel.
Let’s get into the cons and pros.
First con is going to be, I went over already, no drip tip available on the comp cap. I wish they would have done something with that.
No extra deck screw. They’re going to get a con for that one.
No tool. Augvape, put a flathead screwdriver in there for crying out loud. Come one!
And only one drip tip included in the package. Augvape, that’s not cool. Every other company is doing two and three drip tips in a package. You need to keep up with the competition.
Let’s get into the pros because there’s a ton of them. First pro is going to be two top caps. Great job on that Augvape. I’m digging it.
We’ll give them a pro on the deck. The deck is awesome. Love that T style deck with the four terminals that open up. Great job on that.
Easy to build. You saw me slap a build in there. It was nothing, pro.
Good looking RDA. Look at it, man. It looks awesome on the DB. We’re going to give them a pro for that.
Low profile, love that. Love low profile RDAs. It increases the flavor exponentially when you have that reduced chamber inside.
Precise adjustment of the airflow. This thing really lets you dial in your airflow. Great job, Augvape.
Locking barrel, pro.
Great flavor. This thing’s got banging flavor. It’s been in my rotation for months. I don’t see myself putting it on the shelf anytime soon. Great job on that, Augvape.
Clouds, this thing can chuck. Check it out. Any questions?
Finish on this thing, beautiful. Love the paint job. They did a nice job on the finish. Subtle branding, pro on that.
Great o-ring tolerance. Look, nice. I like that. I hate loose o-rings on RDAs. Good job on that.
And the last pro I’m going to give them is the price point. I’ve been seeing this thing all over the place even at US sites for under 30 bucks. Let me tell you something, man. For under 30 bucks, this thing is a big win. Go get yourself one. It’s DeucesJack approved for sure.
